Resolving Conflict in the Workplace November 14th, 2019 (All things HR, Lynnwood))
All Things HR #105

Conflict at work doesn't have to be a battle.  We can show you how to:

  •  Learn the interest-based model of conflict resolution
  •  Identify core values/needs and conflict style tendencies
  •  Recognize how to unearth the core values/need of others
  •  Apply tools and skills to easily share wants and needs in a conflict resolution conversation
  •  Master the ability to listen with curiosity, compassion and empathy
  •  Understand how to ask probing, open-ended questions to uncover the real issues at play
  • Practice difficult conversations using a framework that helps in the preparation and execution of the conversation itself

Meet the Trainer Kim Axelrod

Kim has close to fifteen years of experience helping individuals and organizations effectively work through conflict and change. Axelrod has extensive negotiation and training expertise gained in her years working at Hewlett Packard Co. She completed her mediation certification in 2006 and Ombudsman training in 2013. Currently she works as a mediator, facilitator, trainer and coach. Her focus is on helping people embrace conflict with curiosity rather than a defensive stand.
She has mediated a large variety of cases including, family, work place, community, and small claims for Dispute Resolution Centers in King and Snohomish County. In addition she serves as a mediator for federal agencies through the Seattle Federal Executive Board. Her workplace cases have ranged from helping two individuals work through conflict to helping work teams over a period of time improve productivity and communication. She served as the lead trainer for the Snohomish, Island County and Skagit DRC developing and delivering training on the topics of Mediation, Conflict Resolution, Trust in the Workplace, Communication Skills and Leadership.
In her private practice, in addition to mediation cases, she delivers workshops, facilitates
with teams and works with individuals. The objective is to build skills and foster curiosity.
Kim believes that learning is about having fun, gaining experience and confidence by
feeling and doing. In addition, her goal is that participants are able to work through specific challenges during her workshops and/or apply the tools & skills learned immediately back in the workplace.
